crawlers wigglers and crickets
Been fishing a few lakes and noticed that the fish on each lake prefer one bait over the other. Any science behind which i should choose over the other based on water color temp etc? Or is it a crap shoot?

I wouldn't use any of them.

luck of the cast I would think . Never seen either passed up for the other .

I fish with worms and grass shrimp....some days its 80% shrimp, then next trip the other way around, same lake and then some days the choice will change in a few hours

They steal em all on the lakes I fish. I prefer red or trout worms first, wax worms second and crawlers last.

what is a trout worm ?
-
Not sure what specific worm they are. Its a small worm though. The places i buy from call them trout worms.

Eisenia fetida are the smaller red worms (aka trout worms, red wigglers, brandling worms, manure worms).
Eisenia hortensis are the bigger redworms (aka European nightcrawler, big reds). These are usually sold through retail locations like Walmart, Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander Mountain as Big Red Worms from DMF Bait Company in red containers. These are an invasive species, so do not release if possible.
