Thread: What's y'alls favorite setup for Shellcrackers?

1. For most fun. Fly rod with popping bug.
2. Crickets gets the nod for catching the most.
3. Beetle spins for covering water fast and figuring them out for that day.

Boys tried for a couple of years getting me to Elizabeth City for the brim bite in the spring.
6 to 9 boats made that adventure every spring after I came the first time and I came in the fall several years, then moved up here for the fishing.
We'd bring a 1000 crickets each (box) and usually be out by Sunday evening. 2 to 3 days fishing. Just keeping the big ones.

For putting fish in the boat. Crickets has my vote.

5 wt fly rod with ultra lite spin reel taped on, 6 # line, small hook, piece of worm, very tiny splitshot.
