maggots for brim, crappie
Somewhere I read that the BEST way to get maggots for a HOT SPOT is to pick up some roadkill, take it to the lake and tie it up on a limb that hangs over the water. When the flies blow the roadkill the maggots will fall off of the kill and feed the fish for a while.
You may have to anchor your boat DOWN WIND to fish the spot, but you should not go away with an empty cooler.
I understank that some fishermen always have a bent wire coat hanger somewhere in their vehicle.
