Advice needed please
Hey Folks. I got the kids home with me for spring break and am planning on taking them fishing the next two days. The plan is to target gills and shellcrackers. That being said, I've never attempted them this early in the year.
Here's what I got:
Red worms
Night Crawlers
Slip Floats
Spring floats
#6 and #8 hooks
Splitshots
All rigs have either 4# or 6# test.
Fishing the Clermont Chain of Lakes in Florida. The water temperature should be anywhere from 68 to 72. The larger lakes have a max depth of around 15' while most are in the 8-10'. Plenty of coves, grass, pads, etc.
I also have side imaging. The forecast tomorrow is 74 degrees, cloudy, and slight shower.
Questions:
1) Is it too early to see bedding on side imaging? If so anything specific I should be looking for?
2) What depths/areas should I target? (for bluegills that is, I know I will be hitting the bottom for shellcrackers)
3) How long should I give one spot?

ihave been getting good numbers of blues and shell crackers this past 2 weeks,,,been getting them in 4ft of water in the eel grass....shrimp has been the best hits,but this past week we used some red worms and had good bites....all baits were about1ft from bottom..I give each spot about 15 min's but last 2 trips I never moved the bite was so good.I am in polk county also

Well the fishing was a total bust. Water was cooler at 66 degrees and just coming off a brief cold front. Tried pads, grass, hard bottom, soft bottom working various depths. But the kids had a picnic on the boat and we cruised around a few of the lakes.
