Default Big Gills..but not big enough

Our last tournament on August 4th had my partner and I hunting for bull bluegill. This particular lake has been Dubbed the name "Death Valley" over it's real name Rose Valley, because it has a love hate relationship with so many anglers. During pre-fishing we got into some real nive gills and not so great crappie and perch. On tournament day we figured we'd focus on these gills with big shoulders, and boated a 7 pound limit of 12 fish. smallest ones weigh in at a half pound and the biggest ones at 3/4 lb. Nothing to sneeze at. Well we got an eye openr at the weigh in scales. Guys brought in huge crappies with the biggest be 1.62 lb and another team bringing big perch in with the biggest weighing 1.36 lb. and they took 1st place with 9.09 lbs and the team with big crappie was short one fish but still weighed 8.90 lbs. That being said..there is still bigger bluegills in this lake over a pound..just need to find them on the good days of fishing this lake.

I feel your pain as most people I have been to the lake with did not do well at all, but I have gotten some nice one their.
One time out I caught a 15" pearch a 15" crappie and a 15" bass and it looked the smallest out of them - lol
I have not had the time to get there this year to see a 15" gill to add to my list.

My one buddy has 2 bull gills over a pound mounted from there in icefishing season..Same day same hole one right after another. one is 12 1/4 inches and the other 11 3/4 if I'm not mistaken and that was 4 yrs ago I believe.
Oh, and by the way..You told me about Baldeagle Jigs,, and Duane emailed me today about wanting to be a sponsor ...just ironic! lol

Grew up in Loyalsock. Moved here in 75. Always wondered how that lake was doing for fishing. By the sound of it, it must be doing well.
