Thread: Headed to Reelfoot Sunday, looking for some info.

Hello, not looking for your secret spot, just some info. on the lake conditions and Bluegill action. Any tips or info. will be confidential. I live in Illinois and this is our second trip down there. Last year, low water and 100degree temps, but we still had fun. I never knew you guys had our favorite species in that lake, the dreaded Asian carp, at least on the rivers we can out run them without ruining a prop. (LOL) Anyway with or without we love the area and people, hope to hear from you, and maybe have a beer with us!

I have fished there a couple of times. On the north end, we fished the 1st part of June just north of the Sportsmans resort. and caught a lot of good sized Bluegills.
The last time I was there we fished out of Blue bank it was early April so we was crappie fishing, but we did catch some bluegill just south of the resort by the camp ground.

P.S. I fish mostly with small plastic jigs.

We are planning to head that way the following weekend. This will be our 2nd trip. First trip was cut short by rain and cold weather. I also would like some tips if anyone would care to help. Thanks

Sorry I should have read this sooner.......Just got back Sunday the 12th, from being there all week. Our group mainly fishes for gills. Fishing started out slow but picked up later in the week. Launched at Kirby's and fished Simon pocket and Burnt woods most of the week. Found best bite shallow around the trees when the wind was blowing into them. Some of the other guys in our group stayed in the pads and did ok, but the bigger gills were definitely around the trees. Smaller the jig the better (1/64 or even 1/80th ) tight lined, tipped with a cricket and split shot worked the best for us. Good Luck we had a ball.
