    When picking a spinning reel that will cast far, I look for one with a wide diameter spool. Seems to really make a difference.

    Have you ever tried a "PENDULUM CAST"? I cast 150yards easy.

    With regards to distance from reel to the first guide.I have read that by going to a small diameter guide,this also reduces"line slap" that robs distance.
    This probably applies only to spinng reels,but makes sense to me.
