I do the very same thing. You may want to make your leaders with a line wieght that is less than your main line. That way if you snag on something you just break off the leader and put on a new one. I fish with my 70 year old father in law and he to has allot of the same issue with sight and hand eye coordination. I am sure if you go this route you will have a great day fishing.
