It depends where you're fishing. I got 45 at one of my favorite ponds today. About 40 came on a spinning rig with a red trout magnet. The rest came on my fly rod. The biggest fish were very shallow (1') and hit the fly. All the rest were well off the bank suspended 5-6' deep in 9-10' of water.

Were you just casting the trout magnet? or are you talking about putting it on like a beetle spin type lure? I've thought about putting one on a beetle spin.... lol I'm sure you just mean spinning rig as in spinning rod but I woulnd't ever know if I didn't ask! :D

Yeah, just casting a plain trout magnet -- no tipping with bait and no "beetle spin" type spinner.

They work really well for me on a beetle spin, although I personally prefer really tiny grubs (like the Mister Twister 1" ones) on mine.
