I have been making mine for a good long time now, well over 30 years, and they do work. I like to make mine in the 1/64 to 1/80 sizes so they flutter slowly. Fish them under a small slip bobber and then go get your hot sauce ready. The larger ones like "Kastaway" do work, but IMHO the smallest ones will land you more fish. Here is how I make mine.
