Default Bream in the fall and winter

    Hi,
Any advice on what types of areas to fish for bream in the fall and early winter? I fish a river system in Louisiana.

    Thanks for the help.

My water temps have been in the 60-70 range and I'm still catching loads of fish very shallow (3-5' deep). As the water cools, I look to deeper water near spawning flats.

I fish mostly small lakes and ponds. In a river, I would look for slack water off the main channel.

Welcome from Alabama. Right now they are eating for the winter. I fish about five feet of water near vegetation and wood structure. My most effective presentation is a 1/64 homemade jig or #8 hook tipped with a waxworm. Teardrop jigs also work well for Bream and Shellcrackers.

Been catching big bream and shellcracker here in north Alabama bumping bottom on channel ledges from 8' to 30' drops on worms and crickets.

Yep... Saturday they were holding tight in schools just like crappie on the edge of the channel 18 inches off the bottom in 20 FOW, using a three way rig with a 1 ounce Bass casting sinker on bottom 18 in up a three way with a gold aberdeen snelled hook with red wigglers. Caught prob 20-25 NICE bream while crappie fishing. Between the one rod with a worm and tightlining four rods with minnows I had an action packed day at the lake.
