yOU CAN CAST THEM WITH A 5WT WITH OR WITH OUT A STRIKE INDICATOR WORKS GREAT FOR GILLS AND CRAPPIE USE THEM ALL THE TIME.
I just ordered a 5wt and plan on fishing the fly rod a lot. I use a float tube and fish for whatever is hungry be it Gills Trout or small Bass. In the past I've used the 1/32 jigs with spinning gear but want to give the fly rod a try. Thats why I'm looking about info on the smaller jigs.
I suggest using a straight piece of mono or fluoro for your leader. IMO, there's no need for an expensive tapered leader when fishing a light jig on the fly rod. The weight of the jig will "kick over" the leader just fine. A straight leader will also sink better.
BTW, I love float tubing! Illinoisgiller is also a big fan.
I will often use 1/64 and 1/80 pinmins and jigs I Hand create under a slip float. They are a great slow fall presentation. Tip with a wax worm and they are truely irresistable to panfish.

I use tiny jigs all the time...they're great for gills, and on those days when the more "conventional" sized jigs aren't working...
I use a super light action rod and 4lb or 2lb test line...occassionally I'll tip the tiny jigs with either a crappie niblet, or a Gulp maggot...BTW, it helps to use weighted floats because then the jig falls at a more natural rate of speed.
