    Was Trolling for specks in the St. John's River yesterday this Gill hit the small crankbait , what a fight on a 10 ft flyrod set up for trolling.
    One other gill on same bait but was small, Two small specks and one cat on jigs Got hot went home by 0930 LOL

    awesome cuz. where are you fishing at? looks like orange lake. You sure that was a gill though? looks like a shellcracker, i cant see the gill plate to look for the red but the stripes on the sides and overall look is more like a shellcracker, gills are normally rounder when they are that big. Hope i get a mess of em this afternoon, im fixing to leave and the only way i will release them that size is if its in hot grease!

    It did have a red spot where your ear would be . Heck I just can tell a bass from a speck ,
    Hey SYG St.John's River just outside of Melbourne .

    That is a nice redear. We caught a few last night that were huge. 4 really nice ones, seemed like only the big ones were biting!
