Illinois Gills

Went out the other day to a farm pond, and got onto some nice gills. Its a 5 acre private pond, and I even caught a few small crappie. Probably caught over a hundred fish total, but just kept a few gills for the freezer.

Wow, very nice gills. It's surprising sometimes what you can find in small farm ponds. We've caught big Crappie in small farm ponds that size. Seems like it's only certain years though. I think the conditions just have to be right, and I also think it's cyclical (on how big they can get, crappie and gills).

Yeah I agree, its a great little pond loaded with fish, and there is only about 3 people that have permission to fish it. And yeah I was hoping you would see the pic.
