Default Spring time gills from Ohio

Here's some gills we took from pleasant hill in nw Ohio yesterday. The pic doesn't do them justice. All nice and fat, with a bonus smallie! good time for the first time out this year. Caught them on jigs just off the bottom.

That will work! Get your hot sauce ready! I like what Mike Holmgren is doing with our Browns!

They were hitting on jigs tipped with crawler or waxies or crappie nibbles. We got them in 8 fow, just off the bottom. surface temp was 46. Found them in the structure and weed beds that the crappie are usually in. I guess the crappie haven't moved in that shallow yet? Did get a couple crappie on hand tied jigs and small soft plastic baits.
