I met a guy in Flordia that trolled with them for crappie on Orange and Lockloosa Lakes. The fish camp where we stayed had a fish fry every Sunday and this guy would supply the fish. Beetle Spins was the only thing that he used. He was using 4 poles longline style.

to me the best beetle spin type bait made today is the cajun spin by k&e lures I believe. I use the 1/32 size, it has a very very small blade that turns freely. black body with chartruese tip on the tail is my favorite.

I rarely use anything else when bream fishing. I keep a handful of different colors but I use one and only one. That is a 1/32 oz black w/yellow stripes. I don't care if the water is gin clear or the color of chocolate milk. That is all I need.

Someone already mentioned differences between the Bass Buster and the Johnson lures. On the old Bass Buster lure (which I prefer) the head is more of a keel shape than the round ones on recent production Johnson lures. Also, on the Bass Buster lures the blade was smaller and the arm on the spinner was shorter. All of that might or might not make a difference but I feel more confident in them and I believe confidence goes a long way toward catching more fish.

I bought ajohnson beetle spin in 1/32 oz white. I will later buy the 1/32 0z black/yellow.

Oh yeah, I like the Beetle Spins in various sizes. When I was younger, I used to make my own by bending a paper clip, adding a swivel, split ring, spinner blade, and leadhead. But lately I've been using the Roadrunners a little more. I can't really say which is more effective. But I'd say a Beetle Spin is more of a finder lure.

Try a "Spin Dandy", remove the skirt & replace it with a cricket...Works great for me..
