    Default How close...is too close???

    Hey Guys....
I went fishing on Sat. ....Rock Creek, on Lake Eufaula....where I have a little milk run of brush piles. If anyone was out...they know what it was like....a very...very strong south wind. My best spot, had a boat (Boston Whaler, old 115 Johnson) on it, I did not get within 100 yards of him, although they were pulling in crappie, one after the other. So I continued fishing my way up the creek....about 1pm I came back down the creek to trailer down to Bugtussle, when I noticed there was no one on the "good spot". I pulled in to the spot and anchored....and immediatly began catching crappie....within 20 minutes the Boston Whaler (a big fat 60 yr old lookin man...and a bleach blond white trash looking woman) came down the creek....and glared at me...and reved motor etc.

They fished within sight for an hour or so....and then moved within 40 feet and anchored....never said a word....I could actually cross their line on a cast with a 5' spinning rod.....after about 45 min, of him glareing at me...I gave up my spot, and moved to Crowder Cove, to another brushpile.

OK....what would you guys do...how close is to close???

    thanks

He left and it is a public lake, you patiently waited your turn and I would never have left if I were you.

I would never have left, I've fished over brush piles with boats 10' apart, and caught crappie. As long as no one is making lots of noise. It's ever body's lake.

I'da told him to come on over and anchor up. It seemed that there were plenty of fish for everyone. No harm, no foul. Prolly woulda made a couple of good new friends.

Shoot holes in Boston Whaler to create additional structure.

Just kidding. Brushpiles placed in public lakes become just that public brushpiles. First come, first served.

    ..and I agree with Reaper.

I'd probably spent the weekend in jail.

Las yr i was wadin, fishin some brush out in deeper water alone(for bass im afraid). I was bringin em in one after another havin the time of my life! hoopin and hollerin. 2 bass boats wher fishin the brush from the other side and a 3rd pulled up and jus watched. The other boats werent catchin em like I was. They werent big, I released em all, it was jus for fun. I even heard one of the guys say "what the H is she using?" Eventually that guy got aggrevated and put his boat between me and the brush. He caught a little one and a then a keeper but he ruined my day! Since i was alone I didnt say a word or throw rocks at him. I was so angry, I had 2 leave. I hope that rotten person didnt win any tourn money by pushin a girl out of her spot! I cant even say what i want 2 call him on a family site but u get the idea.

I did go 2 the tourn weight-in that afternoon but didnt c the boat I woulda made sure everyone that would listen woulda known what kind of person he was!

I wished i'd had a paint gun 2 shoot at his boat but that coulda gotten me in trouble 2. I promise next time, alone or not, I WILL say something! Some people jus suck and ruin thing for others!

    Thanks for letting me vent.

Stink - You probably would have spent the weekend in jail. I would have felt like doing that too but it IS a public lake. My guess is that they may have limited out and went and stashed the fish and came back for more. I remember a fella telling me he was running 100 yo yo's on Hugo AND all his family were rod & reel fishing too. He would drive back to Durant every other day and put the fillets in the freezer and drive back. He said he had around 100 pounds of fillets already.
Some people forget their manners when the fish are shallow and the picking is easy. Those folks disappear until next Spring because they cant catch fish after they leave the shallows. I bet they are not members of CRAPPIE.com either

fishingrl, now that is a time I woulda got very upset and did something I normally wouldn't do. That clown had no right to come over into your area. Public lake or not, you should have let him know what a jerk he was. No one on this board would have blamed you for it.

Yeah, we observed alot of yo-yo's with air dried fish dangling on them! But all the boats we encountered were all courteous...........EXCEPT the ones bass fishing, It's not bass giving the sport a bad name, only the fisherman! My wife was recently told by 2 bass fisherman that crappie is a poor mans sport; she instantly told them they were incapable of catching crappie and added bass were not difficult to catch at all. After a rousing cheer from other customers they quickly exited the store.....I think with a bruised ego?
