Default Thunderbird -- closed area buoys ???

I'm new to T-Bird and I was there last week and went into a cove and there were these white buoys that said " closed area " . Whats that about ? Thats where I wanted to fish. I thought they were just no-wake bouys and fished the bank. Then I got close enough to read and it was a closed area I was fishing. Dang. Those were good pockets off a secondary point. Why is that part of the lake closed ?

the area you are talking about is probably one that the fisheries blocked off because they plant aquatic vegetation. they aparently want to keep a lot of activity out to let stuff get established and so you want get your boat motor hung up in their cages and such when water is low

That large cove east of the dam is almost entirely closed off. I looked at that area on the map before ever going to fish there. I'd never seen it in person. I picked it out as a place to start fishing and I get there and its all closed off. Surely they not serious about that ?

Hey, this is Oklahoma, no rhyme nor reason goes with some of the things the boys in charge pull.

I see the vegetation beds around the lake with the orange fencing. This particular cove NE of the dam would be prime crappie and bass spawning cove. I just don't understand marking off an entire cove. That seems excessive to me and I don't quite understand the necessity in taking so much of the lake.
