    Default Sportsman's Closing

The store did double the normal volume today. It was a mad house all day. I know many of the department managers as well as the store manager. Fishing department is currently running 10 to 20% off on their items. Hunting is running 10% off. The store received a truck load today of merchandise and that was stocked tonight. What is on the shelf is it. There is VERY LITTLE in the back to resupply the shelves with, so get it while you can. This weekend should be brisk as well.

I have noticed many of the c.com members are saddened by this stores closing. This store was no.2 in the entire chain of 60 some odd stores in growth. This store was one of the top 5 best stores in the company. I am going to ask the brethern to do something for themselves and for a lot of good hard working individuals that have worked hard to build this store into what is now. I AM NOT A STORE EMPLOYEE. I am president of an environmental consulting company. I have been told by the management of this store that the corporate HQ reads ALL of the emails that they receive. They depend on these emails to measure how they are doing. There is a REAL possibilty that this store will reopen because of its growth. If everyone that reads this would locate their website and send the HQ an email telling them what this store means to them. Tell them why you shop there over BPS or Academy. Is it the knowledgeable staff or selection or something else? This could help them make a decision to reopen the store if they receive enough money from the inventory clearance of all the stores to pay off all the
debt. HQ wants to retain and reopen their top stores and begin again. Please take a few moments of your time and send them an email with your thoughts.
    I am.

That's really too bad I guess when I'm down there in a week, I'll make a special trip. I'd only been in there once, and now I'm wishing I'd have gone more. It really is / was a cool place.

    Default OKC Store

I just returned from Sportsman's W/H and bought a couple of items. The store was packed but few were buying anything. I talked to one of the managers while I was there and he informed me that in their corporate meeting of all staff and all stores the owner said that after the liquidation sale some of the stores will remain open. The corporate website indicates otherwise, but the owner told the OKC staff that he wants to retain this store. I know time will tell but several of the staff asked me to tell everyone to write an email to the corporate office and tell them why you like this store and hope that they will keep it open.

I bought 2 rods and a reel Friday. The selection was still decent b/c the prices have not been reduced that much. I expect once they go over the 10% reduction, stuff will fly out of the store

What really irritated me was when I noticed that after they closed one day to "prepare" for the clearance they went through and marked everything up 15%-20% then said they discounted it. I am not a fan of stores that try and pull that on their customers.
