I also would have been able to do a better job of explaining the slip cork and bobber stop instead of having to refer to a video.

When it either starts down or stops rising and becomes stable life will get better. As long as the water is quickly moving everything will be a struggle.
Wrangler, it's not just the younger folks who don't know what two bits is. I use that term fairly often when working the counter at Braums. A number of younger folks never heard of two bits. Last week, a gentleman in his 60's said "That's fifty cents, right?".
As to the arthritis, my neck cracks all the time. The doctor says it's arthritis, but the wife says it's just more proof that I'm defective and decrepit.
As to the venison burger and wild pig sausage, The wife has made some very tasty chili, stews, and soups. Thanks again.
I made it to daylight. I don’t understand why but more often than not it’s always much worse at night and much better when the sun comes up. While no one has owned up to their participation I can tell that many had prayed for me last night. I am actually feeling so much better that I’m considering going fishing
I think your wife told me that you were a pain in the neck Bigsky :biggrin
i have fished with you on numerous occasions and I tend to agree with her. :biggrin
In further news, it has been one of those weeks. Monday, the wife's car battery gave up the ghost. The son-in-law volunteered to switch it out, and he dead-shorted the new battery, taking out the starter. Tuesday, a woman who must have been texting, rear-ended me while I was stopped at a red light (whiplash). Doctor said to take a couple days off, then should be good to go. Went to carl Blackwell and got only dinks. On the way home (after dark), the alternator went out on the old rustbucket. They say it always comes in threes, so hopefully, the sun will be shining and the birds will be singing, at least until the next three episodes.
As that old song says, "Why is everybody always pickin' on me?".
Well best of luck to both of you! Feel better and hopefully it all turns around!

It turned around today so I'm good till the next time it gets dark. It's kind of a daily ride for me but sometimes it gets bad enough that I complain. I should learn not to complain so much. Thanks for the thought.
Wrangler do you know what barometer reading gets you to looking for relief?
ie 30.??
Or does it work like that.
Eric sorry for the problems.
As my Grandma used to say, that’s life.
Sorry buddy.
It says 29.5 on my digital barameter but the water is running out the top of my liquid barameter so I couldn’t really say. What I can say for sure is that every night when it gets dark I start to struggle. It’s not nearly as bad during the day.

Todays efforts as long as I could stand it.
Not many fish but they were all big.
Nice fish!!
Gosh I'm so jealous I would trade the pain to be able go catch that many fish on a day like today. Or any day.

I have the advantage of being retired and can go anytime I want. I often times go during inclement weather just to see if I can catch fish. As long as the wind will allow I will go. Yesterday was borderline as far as wind is concerned. The rain was inconsequential being as when I worked I had to work in the rain the last 20 years of my working life so fishing in the rain doesn't bother me as long as there is no lightning. I caught 6 other crappie yesterday that didn't make the pic.
Before back surgery I was a very active, athletic person. They called me Super Dave because of my physical strength. Now fishing is all I have left. Well fishing and bible study because I teach a Sunday School class. I guess I go when I should be staying home because I'm not a couch potato by nature. Believe me, you would not trade the pain for fishing or anything else for that matter. When you watch on movies or TV where people pass out from the pain that is just a myth. As far as I know men don't pass out because of pain, although I often wish I would.
One of the test I had to have before the back surgery was having me lay on my stomach while they used a machine that injected something to induce pain all along my spine at the same time to measure how much pain I was in. I made the machine hit it's max rating and did not pass out. They told me that they had never seen anyone even come close to that measurement before. I have actually never told anyone of that until now. (as I mentioned before this web site is my support group)
I have a full grasp of what the Apostle Paul meant when he said in Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Don't misunderstand, I'm not suicidal at all but I do look forward to going home to be with my Lord.
I understand totally. I'm only 35 but my body took a beating in the army. Between lugging 50lbs of body armor around for 27 months in Iraq to a rollover accident and a motorcycle wreck I am in pain daily. Good for you for pushing through it and doing what you love!!!

I've known wrangler for many years. He is totally amazing, the way he can fix anything, build rods and tackle, and handle all that pain (and he's not too bad a fisherman).
It was a windy day on the lake. But I wanted to fish anyway so I went. Any day on the lake is far better than a day on the couch. I caught 6 keepers and 6 tossers. I was tired and sore from the waves when I got home so no pics this time.
Glad you got out Wrangler!
You the man Wrangler!
While I was on the water a friend of mine called and said he was driving from Ardmore to McAlester and wanted to know if he could stop and fish a while as he was passing thru. I picked him up at the boat ramp and at one of the places we fished he caught a 22” Striper on a 5’ crappie rod spooled with 6# line. You should have seen us trying to keep up with that Striper in high wind using the trolling motor. That made my friends day. I got the bonus of having someone help me load the boat on a windy day. :).
I don't know why but most of the time windows won't download pics from my iphone to my computer. That is why most of my pics are rotated 90*. Every tow or three months my computer will all of a sudden recognize and down load the pics. Well, I plugged my Iphone into my computer this morning and it downloaded a bunch of pics so I thought I would post or re-post a few that looked goofy turned sideways.

One of the few pics I have taken while on the water. This was one of this weeks fish.
Here are those barometer globe pics that I thought looked goofy turned sideways.

I don't know why the last pic is turned sideways.
This is a pic of the ice spoons I make for crappie. They are small as you can tell by the penny there for scale. When the crappie are hitting them they are real handy because unlike a plastic jig they don't wear out when the crappie are aggressive. I plan on trying them this spring under a float when the crappie are on the beds.

We'll my sarcasm towards my friend wasn't received very well so may god bless all of y'all and y'all have a nice day. Wrangler I shall return.
I have to look closely but I found some fish.
Things are starting to look up for us crappie fishermen. As I sit here giving my Sunday School lesson the final proof reading before church I cant help but notice that it is easily light enough to launch a boat and it is not yet 7:00 am! Spring is a coming!
Someone is leaning on me to build them a custom spinning rod. I told them if they would buy the parts I would build it. Do you folk want me to detail another tutorial while building this rod?
I would enjoy seeing another rod build.
I've never seen a rod build so I would love it

If anyone out there has the ability to walk me thru some of this GoPro stuff please pm me.
Should be some YouTube Videos on it.
I’ve looked at a lot. I’m needing some kind of video editing software and every company including GoPro says that there’s is the best. I’m needing feedback from people that aren’t selling anything. I’m still trying to get the hang of this camera. I will also need to learn to upload to YouTube.
I have now successfully figured out how to use the GoPro camera or at least how to start and stop filming. I settled on using windows free video editing software that is no longer supported by Microsoft but can still be acquired. I’ve been messing with the editing software and thought I had progressed enough to make my first video to post on YouTube. While editing my first diy video on making ice spoons my electricity goes out. This is somewhat frustrating. All I have to do is figure out how to delete unwanted portions of the video and I will have finished my first one. :banghead
For Spielburg his efforts have brought him fame, money, and pretty girls. All my efforts have brought me so far is a bunch of worn out old men and some of them are disgruntled. I suppose I should be grateful for what I have.
:biggrin
If I'm lumped in that bunch you're in luck! I'm only 35!!
