With the temps going to reach the mid-60's for Saturday I just couldn't resist heading to the lake, had a few other obligations to do first so didn't get to the water till noon and though it was nice nestled up in the cove the wind was consistent enough to maintain some steady caps out on the main lake. We fished the docks but with the nicer weather so came a lot of dock dwellers whom brought with them a lot noise, beaten and banging, needless to say we didn't do any good dock side so we decided to pull some lines (troll) from the back of the cove out to the bridge. Still no crappie but as we turned out over the main channel we did pick up a nice 2 lb. blue on a BG Stroll'R Green Banana, so in the spirit of making some lemonade from lemons we set a few jug out in the area which lead to going ahead and spending the first night of the year on the houseboat which we normally don't do until closer to April. After a late evening run followed up with an overnight soak for a morning run we ended up with several perfect eaten sized blues, about 20 to 25 lbs. The wind was like ice and 2 foot swells kept us from re-setting after the morning harvest but still a good weekend none the less.
