Been fishin with weedless jigs for a long time. Prefer to buy local and Timmy Toms weedless jigs are good jigs. But along time ago I started buying jigs from Paul Mullins aka GrouseFly in Vicco Kentucky and I still buy some from him now. Really like a little more stealth that I get with the weed guard that GrouseFly produces. I like the single fiber weed guard. Not sure if the crappie care if the jig has just one fiber guard or a bunch of fibers bunched together as the guard, but they give me more confidence. Another good thing about the single fiber guard is I'm able to powder coat them easily. I use needle nose pliers and hold the jig by the fiber weed guard, completely covering it up. Every now and then I'll heat it up a little too much and melt the fiber guard, but that doesn't happen often. I also like the fiber guards better than the single metal weed guards you can buy. The fiber guards always bend back to the same position after a bite, the metal guards don't. The jigs do cost more than most people are use to paying for jigs. I just bought 300 jigs and it cost me $67. Doesn't bother me a bit, I always fish with weedless jigs because I know I'll get hung up less and that will help me catch more fish. Not to mention I'll be less aggravated from getting hung up. Will I miss more fish using weedless jigs? No, only the crappie I'm too slow to set the hook on when they offer to be caught. Here's some pics of the jigs I buy from Paul. He even threw in a dozen more he painted himself. Now all I have to do is powder coat them the color I want and trim the weed guard back to the length I want. Tip of the day, always order 1/3rd more than you need because everybody you fish with won't have any and you'll end up giving away at least that many. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
