Hugo Camp
Once again Dave Brown puts together a great time for those who attended. Bobby and I put in up river at Frazier Creek as I wanted to check out some of the feeder creeks. Nothing there, off to river that had little to no current and sunken trees galore. We found one spot on that dropped from 12'-22' in about a 5' distance that was holding fish. Right away I caught a 13.25" and soon after Bobby brought up a 14.25" fish. Another dink caught, then the river started flowing and the bite was gone. Checked out several other areas. My carb problems came back and we were stuck at moving at idle speed just to move around but was better than no big motor.
Had some great Pork that night smoked by Pappa and supplied by Nip. I told my share of lies and listened to plenty of others. Dessert of Peach Cobbler and Ice Cream made me fatter than I am. Early bed just before 9 for Bobby and I and Doug calls at 9:15 and the Star Trek Red Alert for my ring tone wakes us both up. Doug offered up a couple of places to check out in the morning. Already planning on fishing the lake to avoid the current and we launch right after a breakfast of scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy which was great. Big motor decided it wasn't even going to run in idle speed mode and we went into trolling motor only mode. Found one of the piles Doug let me in on and caught 1 that was about 13". Bite was dead, couldn't find much else to try without the big motor. Trailered boat back to camp and had lunch, changed out TM battery and took a 2 hour nap. Launched near the camp for the evening to try and find another of Odies Hot Spot Tip Teasers. Never found it but the wind was making it tough to fish. Went into the cove and found one little spot we sat on until dark. Pulled 7 more fish off it. Total 8 keepers for the day with about 4 of them 13"-14+". Not too bad for such limited movement.
Great fish fry with the ultimet BS session closing the night. To my knowledge, no one fished this morning as everyone packed up to head out. Huckabee Rods were peddled to those who were interested and we headed out.
Thanks for the good times Dave Brown!
