I have never pulled cranks on Gibson but have at some of the other lakes. In the summer I usually pull on flats 10-15 fow next to the channel in the early morning. The shad will pull up on this flats at night and the crappie will follow them (so look for shad). I have never thought this technique was a load the boat approach here in Oklahoma but have catch a lot of quality fish doing it. In hot weather it's also nice to have a little breezes trolling along at 1.5-2.0mpg.
