Lake Eufaula Facts from USACE
Interesting stuff. The maximum peak discharge occurred in May 1990 with a peak of 389,000 cfs or just under 3,000,000 gallons of water per second! Think I read somewhere that all 11 tainter gates were opened 14' then.

Lake Eufaula Gates Opened; Corps Warns of Flooding | News OK From 1990.

"Should the lake level reach an elevation of 600 feet, the water being released would have to match the amount of water flowing into the lake,"

This is an excerpt of the 1990 press release.
"Heavy rainfall late in the week sent Lake Eufaula, the state's largest reservoir, to 597.9 feet Saturday, its highest elevation ever.
At that level, the lake was already a foot above the level the Corps considers its flood control pool. Only 3 feet remained between Saturday's level and the top of the dam, said Corps spokeswoman Barbara Craven."
So if they were saying 3' would put it to the top of the dam, that must mean that 612' level of "top of the dam" must be the level of the embankment and the top of the spillway gates must be closer to only 600'. Current readings today are 598.45' and we only have 60,700 CFS being released right now.
