I think the best Big Black Crappie lake in Eastern OK is Broken Bow. Tenkiller,Ft. Gibson, Grand and Hudson have very good populations also. I am unfamiliar with lakes in Western OK, so maybe someone else will chime in.

Common sense isn't always that common!
In the Stillwater area, most ponds have blacks, while you rarely catch a black in the lakes around here. Always thought that was odd.

Curious if there are any 'mohawk' crappie anywhere? They are crappie with a black strip that runs from their mouth, over their heads and down their back. Used to catch a lot of them down in texas. Never heard what causes this mutation but, once seen, you'll never forget it.

I'm going to target me some black crappie this year. All I have around me is white crappie.
