Trolling motor batteries?

Hey been awhile since I posted. Just ordered a MK Terrova 80 I pilot. Am wondering what would be the best batteries to go with, have been looking at 27series. Not aure if cold crank amps is what I need to look at. Figure reserve amps should be at least 160 to 200. The optima batteries are nice, but not wanting to break the bank for batteries. What are yall running, how long run time, and how long to expect them to last. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Best bang for Buck is Walmart. Good battery and if under warranty got a walmart just about anywhere you go. I would go with 29/31 for 24 volt system. Especially if you pull cranks or longline jigs for long periods of time. Reserve capacity is what you are looking for.

Wal-Mart. only place with a 18 month free replacement deep cycle also. Go as large as you can. 27 series is too small. I tried the Optima. not again. not for trolling motor. They are like a Lithium battery. they give 100% all the way to the end. that is great if you are cranking with it, but no so for a trolling motor. If i use mine a lot, i can feel it getting weak and make adjustments to the location and conditions i am in to finish the trip. The Optima is DONE when its done, and no warning. my Wal-mart batteries are lasting me 4-5 years.

Walmart sounds like the ticket really like the idea saving a few bucks. Thought I would be spending mid $150. Thanks for info guys anthing else I should look for?

I've had bad luck with Wal Mart batteries. Looks like I might be the only one, but the one's I've purchased haven't held up. Also when you have to return them, they have put it on their tester for awhile to confirm they are bad, which usually entails someone at the front desk paging someone in sporting goods, who pages someone in produce, who pages someone in the pharmacy, who finally finds someone in the lingerie department who is able to test the battery. I can't really remember but it seems like they have to leave it on the tester for around 30 minutes unless there is a problem, then it's longer. I had a 77' Cadillac that ate WalMart batteries like candy. Finally put an Interstate battery in it, and it held up. I would rather pay $30 or $40 bucks more and not have to burn a half day messing with WalMart. Maybe I just purchased a few rare bad batteries? Don't really know but I've had really good luck with Interstate. Who knows, they both might be made by the same chinaman. The only thing that I'm 100% sure of is that I'd rather take a sharp stick in the eye than take a battery back to WalMart.

Walmart maxx batteries has been working for me. I had one fail on me and I guess I was lucky. walked in and said it died, they looked at my papers and went and got me another one. in and out within minutes. my buddy swears by interstate batteries and it looks like he has had good luck with them. I would go with either one.

I purchased the Cabela's AGM batteries about a month ago. They were on sale $219 down to $125 for the 27 size. That's big as I could fit and I replaced Exide 27's. The advantage is no maintenance and the price was right. But I don't think they pull as good as the one's I replaced. Seems I run the troll motor on a little(5%) higher speed. Time will tell. For a less expensive battery, I also have had good luck with the walmart batteries and with any issues I had with them. Like I said, my main reason for this purchase was the price and no maint.
