Redge, used a kip tail. Today, I tried six new jigs. Orange/green/orange and pink/peacock herl/long (2 1/4") pheasant tail worked best. Caught a couple on chartreuse/chartreuse/yellow feather. Nobody was catching them well. They said there was a bite of some big fish, early.
The bite was on early today. Unfortunately, we went elsewhere to scout a different location (no good), and didn't get to CB until people were leaving with limits and more. One guy was calling the warden to report over-limits that had just left. However, as is often the case, it was: "They quit biting about an hour ago." We still got 16, on 10 different jigs. The Wichita guys were there with the ice spoons. They nailed em early, but nothing after we got there.
Guys with Ice Spoons killed them on Ft Gibson's dock last year while everyone else just watched. Limited out in 30 minutes.

These guys from Wichita make them. It's a small willow leaf blade soldered onto a small hook. Before they solder it, they drill a small hole at one end and put in a split ring. They paint them with various colors and designs. They use them with ice fishing rods, equipped with spring bobbers, inline ice reels, and three pound line. The first time I saw them at CB last year, one guy caught (and released) over three hundred nice crappie. Several people tried to buy some, but they don't sell them. They WILL show you exactly how to make them, though.Quote:

Figures, the day I decide to sleep in and spend the day at Bass Pro stocking up...the bite is on at CB......!
I guess CB was all fished out cause I spent 3 hours Sunday morning (6-9am) and only had 3 crappie before I decided I didn't want to deal with the wind anymore, either the crappie were tired from Saturday or the wind was to much for them. Oh well....there's always next weekend.

I fished at CB on Saturday morning (Jan 24) and managed 6 keepers. The predominant colors seemed to be blue and yellow.
