Congrats on the move. Good luck in Texas.

I recently relocated to Texas, and wanted to drop a line (wow, good fishing-pun) and say thanks to all the members here on the Okie thread. I have learned a lot from reading through the various topics, and am grateful to all the Crappie-masters who shared tips, tricks, and general knowledge of the sport. I enjoyed my 14 years living in OKC, but the lure (wow, another one) of moving back home to East Texas was too strong. I am now in Tyler, Texas which gives me access to a ton of great bodies of water...not the least of which is Lake Fork. Going to have to dust off the bass fishing gear for that one...I hear there isn't a bass in that lake under 8 lbs!!
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the Okie group, and good luck to all!!

Congrats on the move. Good luck in Texas.
Here fishy, fishy, fishy...
Jon, I'd be looking at a place on Lake Palestine, that is a great crappie lake for sure! Your options are unlimited and Fork wouldn't be my first choice. Try Cedar Creek Lake and Lake of the Pines, Tawakanie and even Toledo Bend and Rayburn, that is crappie heaven for sure!
I certainly understand moving back home since I just did a couple of months ago myself!

I live about 10 miles from the north end of Lake Palestine, so that is where I will be doing the bulk of my fishing. I grew up in Athens and fished Cedar Creek a lot through high school, so I definitely know how good that lake is! A bit of a drive from here, but I will make it occasionally. I am just as excited about fishing my home lake of Lake Athens...they built a freshwater fish hatchery there in the mid 1990's, and that lake has benefited greatly.
Thanks to everyone for the kind words!!
I know it will feel good to move back home. Hope you will keep us up on your new waters. Good luck.
Always wanted to fish Lake Athens, it's a beautiful little lake but, never got the chance.
Are you near Ben Wheeler, TX? I have a couple of great fishing buddies that live there and fish both Palestine and CCL often.
You also need to get on the TexasFishngForum.net site and look under 'crapie' as there are a LOT of guys on there that fish E Tx a lot!
Truly a great bunch of people.
