Size: 88.1 KB. What's the deal with all the pelicans the last couple years? I used to see a few for a few days in the fall, and then they would leave. Now there's thousands and they stay year round. Just wondering how they affect fishing and if anyone else has noticed this?

I see them every fall/winter on killer but they are usually gone before it gets really cold!

Lots of shad on surface at the lakes I fished last week and lots of pelicans feeding before they go South!

We have them on the lakes around here. Close to the Mississippi River. I guess they come up the river. They stay year round now and can decimate a good shad spawn along with the crappie. Thousands of them on a coupled the lakes now.

Strong numbers of shad keep them around a bit longer.

Very cool birds to watch! We've been seeing them at Texoma for about the last 20 yrs. There's quite a few on Thunderbird as of Saturday, also.

When I lived on Cedar Creek Lake in Texas, they would generally show up in late October and stick around a couple of months. Seems they were always there over Thanksgiving at least. I always loved to see them on the water.
