I am constantly checking to see what the next days weather will bring so I know whether to plan a crappie trip to LCB..but of course being Oklahoma nothing ends up as forecastedI have been able to run out to Shawnee lake a few times and Tecumseh lake once even to thunderbird but no fish caught and only one bite....I do hope I get to go to Blackwell soon, although when I called the park ranger he said fishing has slowed way down....I really want to learn how to catch crappie consistently because although I can catch them from time to time when fishing for bass--I don't yet know how to just catch crappie..and the weather is keeping me from practicing...I hope soon the wind and cold will cooperate with me so I can teach myself how to catch crappie and to even catch the big slabs consistently....my freezer is empty

I hear it suggested often and have yet to do it myself but hire a guide. Ranger and EB are two goods ones I know of around here. There are some good ones that aren't Crappie.com members but I would chose the Crappie.com member guides over the non members. If you really want to learn how to catch them throughout the whole year your best bet would be hire them more than once at different times of the year when crappie are in different patterns.
Ranger09, Mark McGuire is as good as it gets based on my limited guide adventure experience. He is not a clock watcher in that the objective is to learn, catch crappie, have a good time without constantly looking at a watch to insure that the full day guide service( one of mine was a whopping 5 hours long, but NOT with Mark McGuire) wraps up sooner than later. If you go with Mark once, it will be a memory movie you can replay over and over in your mind and smile. My 2 cents, however the memory movie is priceless!
Ranger is a top notch person and from what I have heard he is a fantastic guide that is more worried about you learning and catching than he is anything else. I will be sharing a boat with him soon hopefully.

I'll give you a personal review of Marks teaching service after April 17th! I'm betting he'll get a 5 star rating. Any takers?

I've not yet fished with mark, but I've seen him on the water plenty and he's usually putting fish in the boat when I see him. He is a top notch guy. Though he operates a guide service, he's been more than willing to share info as to where and how he's catching fish on several occasions. A lot of guides would not do that, they feel that is what you pay them for, and it is!!! That is what sets mark apart from a lot of others and I look forward to fishing in his ranger sometime soon!!!
Both are fantastic- you can't go wrong with either.
Bobo and Pappa, guaranteed you'll have a blast with Ranger!

My son and I are going with Ranger this month. My son is having a hard time concentrating at work he is so pumped. We have contracted a Front End Euclid Loader to haul our catch. You know that loader stands 3 stories tall! :-) You will have pictures maybe a video to drool over. Catch no fish or limit out, a day on the Lake with Ranger and my son is an honor and a privilege, a barrel of laughs, an education, and a memory that will last forever.
