Default night fishing this time of year...???

A friend of mine recommended that I try doing some night fishing with lights during this time of year when its cold out. He said the crappie will come into the shallows and to only fish about 2 ft deep with minnows and lights on the water.. I haven't tried it yet but I was wondering if anyone else has had any success night fishing in shallow water when the water is cold out?? My dock is only about 12 ft and the crappie don't seem to be in that shallow yet so I was skeptical on if it would work or not.. ??

I figured the other way to find out would be ask for some input and make some conversation. I really enjoy how active this forum is I find myself getting hooked on crappie fishing like I get hooked on duck hunting. Lots of fun

On cold nights, I think I would be more afraid of freezing my extreme lower back off, than thinking about catching anything.

tooned out, there are literally thousands caught on at night on Eufaula this time of year from the bank. Remember shad love em the warming water, the lights help the fish see the plankton. No matter how cold the fish will be shallow. From 1-4ft deep, jigs or minnows are great. But warmer days make the bite better, no matter if it gets cold that night. We use basically a car light on a pole and flood the light on the water just to draw bait fish and see our corks. Simple laterns work great too. EB

they catch a lot off the dock at Lake Carl Blackwell at night. Get on the corners where the lights shine into the water and either vertical jig in that area or some use slip corks and a single jig and cast out and slowly bring it back. they usually have a lot of success doing this
