    Default Over fishing

The dock at Carl Blackwell has been on fire. People fishing shoulder to shoulder and still their limits or bringing home a good amount. So my question is it possible to overfish this dock?

Well that's a very good question. While crappie are prolific spawners not all the fry make it to the keep able size. According to Jim the head biologist at the NE Regional Wildlife Office, he states it takes a crappie 2 years to get to the 10" size here in Oklahoma. I can say back in the glory days of both Ft Gibson and Tenkiller we (everyone that put a line in the water) caught their limits over and over and over for several years, and add just a few spawns lost due to weather conditions and water levels and bingo. Now it's tough for the average angler to get a limit and even get enough for supper at times on both lakes. So my answer would be yes it's possible in my opinion, but will not happen tomorrow.......Ranger
