    Default Fishin SW Oklahoma

For those who don't know Tom Steed Lake has been great fishing for the last couple of weeks. I have caught crappie in water from 2 to twenty feet deep. The best day was when me and my friend Wilson kept 23 fish with a total weight of 21 pounds the smaller fish were released. I don't know how much longer it will last but it sure is fun. The lake is low so beware of hazards, boat launching is easy but some days the parking lot is full, park where you can. The Park Staff has been busy dropping brush and most is visible I need to GPS it before the lake refills. Would like to add an update on Altus/Lugert lake, last week I spoke with the Game Warden and asked if he could give me an update on Lake Altus. His reply was he had spent two days with the Fish&Game guys on Lake Altus they set gill nets and did shocking over a large portion of the lake and did not find even one fish. It seems the lake is dead. I also asks if they had any idea when or if they would restock and he said they would probably not do anything until the lake refills enough to open some flood gates and flush the lake out.

I've heard Ellsworth lake was hot, but cooled a little bit. I may be about over there.

Haven't heard anything about Lawtonka, but Waurika is fair - good, fish are shallow, about 50 / 50 on males / females with eggs.
