Thought I would revive this old thread for an update. I tried calling the numbers listed on the lake's website and got no answer for a couple of days. I was trying to find out if the ramps were usable. Finally called the Asst City Manager's office who didn't know and referred me to the Police Dept. The dispatcher didn't know but went to ask. The Chief came on the phone and told me the ramps were okay. So I headed down there this morning and put in at the south ramp. The lake is still several feet low but the ramp handled my Lund with no problem. There was only one other boat on the lake. It was a big Ranger with two guys running a trot line. They had put in at the north ramp.

I thought I might find some fish in the creek channels but they weren't there. The creeks were 13-18' deep. I found fish on huge brush piles in the deeper part of the lake. The brushpiles were in 35' with the tops about 15-20' and the fish were in them and suspended just above them. I was trying to cast and drag and picked up a couple before the north wind kicked in and blew me off them. I could have spider rigged them in that wind but didn't have my long poles or any minnows. So I packed up and headed home (with a stop at Punkins for ribs and fish.) I'll probably go back this winter but next time I'll bring my spider rig stuff. It's still a favorite lake of mine with all the trees in it.
