Ranger goggle up log perch darter and you will see a picture of it, it usaully is found among perch. In fact most of the 2 lb crappie in Gaines creek had perch with these darters in there stomach. But there are several species of darters in the creek. EB
Went somewhere new this morning fish didn't cooperate, and it cost me a transducer. It was good to be on the water and out of the wind!! Saw several otters, beaver, and a bald eagle!!
No worries Fishers, if I didn't leave the couch that wouldn't have happened, but that's not me. Order Monday i'll have it by next weekend. Got another upgrade part to put on so ill just knock it all out at the same time!
Atleast it was just a ducer and not a boat bottom...lol...sorry to hear Kirk and hope repairs are swift..since EB put you on the spot maybe you should ask for 1/2's...lol...Ranger
That was my exact thought Ranger, we'll that's something I can fix easy enough. Was only going 3mph, bumped a lay down that was just under the water and somehow it got the ducer cable. It is funny though, kept looking at the finder 2d only, seemed like I was blind. Hard to believe how used the SI/Di I have become accustomed.
Sorry Redge. I thought I had polished every piece of wood in the nav channel so smooth that your accident shouldn't have happened. Must have missed one. It is the place to see wildlife tho isn't it?
Ciller, I thought most of that wood looked polished, I thought it was the otters! I am sure with the rise, that log floated down therefore you didn't miss it!
If it makes you feel any better Redge I did the same thing in Sallisaw creek Sunday morning. Except it wasnt one stump, I hit probably 20 and got hung up on 7 or 8. My tranducer cable ripped off the back of my boat. EB
Dang EB, I didn't mind paying the price. Sorry to hear the water got 2 of us!
It happens, cant be scared of new water! Got to hound these fish! EB
Broke my trolling motor transducer in half at Kerr Saturday myself. Broke out electrical tape and lashed it to the trolling motor and finished up the weekend.
Fished the river with JohnnyShad today had 17 keepers .Attachment 130301 1/11 lbs
Nice!
Glad you found some! That's good thinking on a holiday weekend. Wish I had been that smart. Next time !
Awesome. Nice fish guys; I was too unwilling to go out this weekend.
I've been scouting the navigation channel for the past month and the fishing has been pretty consistent. It took me a week to find the fish and establish a pattern, but after that I started ripping them. Went out last week and took a young kid from work and we caught 36 nice fish and threw back quite a few. I'll post pics of the fish i brought home.
Any recent updates on the Nav Channel? My dad lives down in Verdigris and my go down to visit and fish the next tournament if I can get schooled up on it in time. Fishing is pretty good around here during that time so we will see.
There should be some reports coming soon KAG with the upcoming Tournament......Ranger
Can anyone tell me where the meeting/registration spot for navigation channel tournament will b
The Navigation Channel Tournament is still a month away and I am sure with in the next few days or week the Tournament Sponsor will be posting a time and place.....Ranger
Have any of you put in at 3 forks harbor in muskogee/ft gibson near OGE plant? I've been wanting to try creeks and such that run into river. Anyone had any luck fishing for crappie on river or creeks near there?
I fished the 3 rivers area about 3 or 4 weeks ago looking for ice free water, not a single crappie but huge sand bass up the Grand river a bit. Some were well over 3 pounds.
Thanks fishers. Appreciate it!
That's kind of my home ramp and I fish that stretch of river from coody creek down to salt creek even to spaniard creek.lots of crappie around.can be tough this time of year if your not familiar with the area but like a lot of places as the water warms it gets a lot easier.lots of Visible Stumps And brush to poke around in
Thanks bricklayr! I'm only about a mile away so really interested in learning it. I must admit, that river kind of intimidates me for some reason. I have a 16ft skeeter and 50hp motor. You see any reason for concerns or should I be fine?
your fine,i see guys in small john boats all over.the north south stretch out from Hopewell park can get pretty rough in a strong south wind but the creeks provide a lot of shelter.be very carefull in the creeks until you get the channel down.lots of stumps just under water.i fish manard bayou a lot this time of year but not far off until boudinot creek turns on.there are fish to be caught in coody creek I just don't fish it much.the last couple weekends ive been catching fish 4 to 6 feet deep in 4 to 8 fow.jigs suspended under bobber, they wouldn't hit any thing moving.the water temp was up to 54 way back in the creeks.the fish have been moving farther back each time I go out but this cool weather coming will probably back em out a bit.get on out there and get em.good luck to ya
Really, really appreciate all the info bricklayr!! If/when I make it out ill let you know. Thanks again!!!
Fished Saturday in the Nav Chanel with fortgibsonboy. Spider -rigged with minnows and jigs ,fishing 6-8 ft in 10-15 fow.
cleaned 45 white crappie.Attachment 154622Attachment 154623
Johnny, what a difference from four weeks ago, huh? Do you remember the water temp?
WTG! I was thinking those fish never actually fed, just absorbed nutrients by osmosis! Glad you put the hurt on them!
Fished Friday with johnnyshad from 3-7 pm spider rigging with minnows 6-8 ft in 15 fow water temp 57. had 32Attachment 154645 yeah boy
Fished the Nav yesterday looking for guiding fish and it was very tough. End end the day with 18 biggest being just under 2lb but a few ounces and was a male. Beautiful fish. Fish yesterday were in the Oxbowls in 9' to 12.5'. Technique used was spider rigging minnows down the middle of the creek channel........Ranger
Ranger - I fished the Navigational channel on Friday/Saturday/Sunday in the oxbows as well. Friday I tried vertical jigging brush piles and didn't get a bump all day. Saturday and Sunday I spider rigged with minnows in 15 to 20 FOW with our bait suspended 10 to 12 feet. It wasn't a real fast pace, but the fish we were catching were of quality size. I noticed one of the fish had a little blood in the eggs, therefore we should be a couple of weeks away from the beginning of spawn. The water temp was 55.2 degrees.
Jeff I have tried them and with Lure Flavor. The bite is off enough I didn't have much luck. Jigs tipped with minnows or spider rigging was the only way I could get bit. You had to be in the channel in order to get a strike in the Oxbowls. It's been a crazy month so far......Ranger
Here's a couple of pictures from our fishing adventure last week. Enjoy!
