Thread: Dripping Springs

Cricket, have you ever fished for bream on Dripping Springs or do you know if that lake produces big bream? I love fishing for them but I don't often have the time.

JON - I have not fished for bream at Dripping Springs. I just perked up when I heard about big bream. Where do you live?

I'm in Tulsa, midtown area. When I was a kid growing up in the Deep South we had big bream in our ponds because we had a lot of bass and most of them were pretty large. Large bass are a requirement for big bream and it seems logical that since the Drip is managed for "trophy" bass that the bream and crappie should benefit too.

Whatever was tapping my jigs the other day was pulling the skirt down and like Crappie ciller mentioned that is a typical bream bite on a jig they are rejecting. I haven't fished with worms or crickets in years but I'm thinking of returning to that spot later in the week to see if I can pull some blue gills out of that deep water.

Last Summer on Millwood up the river back in those oxbow lakes they would do the same thing it was large bluegill and black crappie. We went to tiny hair jigs and caught some of the black crappie but the drop shot worm was the best on the gills. Caught over 100 kept 33. They eat pretty good too EB

I am using 1/64oz jigs with trout magnets or 1" dark grubs in the bg ponds i fish with good success. BG will pull the pants down on the skirts for sure. EB - Yep a drop shot red wiggler will clean their plow

Pawhuska city lake is supposed to have alot of big bream. I have not fished it though.

I know Lone Chimney used to be a Mecca for hybrid BG. Haven't fished LC since they had low water and couldn't launch a boat . Anybody know the current level on that lake ?

LC should be good to go. I have a buddy that has been launching his 1860 Lowe for a few months now on it for flatheads.
