Since the Corps published the coordinates to everyone for the fruit of our labor maybe you could do the same for the fruit of your labor.

They never said anything about that. I was told that people put brush in all the time and that it was no big deal. The Corp also supplied everything you needed to fruit your own labor, not to mention the free food and drinks and door prizes. This wasn't no Government put on. The Corps of Oologah are probably the best group of Engineers in the State when it comes to managing the water and disabled hunts. None better period. Since there are never any "publicly funded" piles built in the Talala Creek area, those who participated joined a "private" group. Albeit, once they hit the water, they become "public". If the Corp requires the location of the drops, I'll point towards Talala Creek and say they are yonder, then they can inform the "public" they are yonder. This is starting to sound like a Ron White joke.

I really don't care sharing the coordinates with other Crappie.com members. After all, it's all about the fishing isn't it?

Reaper, last year at the Corps build they had a lot of pallets left over and offered them to anyone that wanted them. It's not too far off (September) if my memory serves me right. Someone could show up with a trailer and maybe haul off a load of pallets. In fact if I participate this year I might just do that.

Well thought out Craig......I have over 400 piles on Tenkiller and Ft Gibson and they were put in by a few fellow fisherman, ok like 5 of us, and they are not public record but like you stated Craig they are public property when they hit the water and if someone is sitting on a pile and reaping the rewards from fishing one without any sweat I never say anything I just head for the next 1. I have over 1000 hrs on the water just creaping around at idle speed looking for stuffffff...not mine either cause its public..I can say though Talala Creek just got better from the fishery standpoint from the efforts of a few....Ranger

I for one thank you guys for your efforts. I don't fish Oolagah often but when I do it's Talala creek because it's fairly well protected from the wind.

Simple Yes or no would suffice...

Sorry if I put you on the spot, just figure since you came on a public forum to recruit and in the beginning you even tried to enlist the help of the corp of E. (or were looking into seeing if they would supply their boat), that this wouldn't turn into a "We are not going to share" thing.

I know of three others that were more than willing to help but couldn't because they had responsibilities to take care of... I hope you at least gave the guy that had car trouble on the way there the info...

I will pass on the invitation to ride in your front seat... I don't need the info that bad. Just glad that the corp doesn't have the same attitude... It would sure hamper the sport of crappie fishing for some guys that may not have side/structure scan and could use a little extra help...

Since you live near Sperry, and if you choose to do some drops in Skiatook, make a post about it and I'm sure you'll get a decent response. I'll come over and help for sure. I rarely fish anywhere other than Oologah because I figure why travel somewhere to fish when I still don't know as much about Oologah as I want. I will say that being able to back a 16' trailer into the water full of pallets awaiting a boat to come load up worked very well. About the time that trailer was empty, I would show up with another one and back it in next to the other one. We had a pretty good system going by having the pallets built and ready to attach brush, already had brush cut nearby, (needed to cut more though), two men plus me attaching the brush to the pallets, then load 4 onto a 16' trailer while also loading the amount of blocks needed to sink those 4 pallets of brush, two men to load onto the boats, then hand the blocks to two guys on the boat. Guys off the boat would tie the outside blocks down, guys in the boat would tie the inside blocks down. The front of the boat guy would also jump out to help load. Bill and I had built hinged wooden brackets custom to the average pallet size. Bills was real fancy and had a 36" grab bar for lifting. The one I made was pretty cheesy, due to lack of material laying around, but did fine until the hinge screws got ripped out and it didn't function right after that. Kevin and Gary made due though and worked through it. All in all we had one heck of a system for everything and could have put out another 25 in short time if we would have had them.

I'd be more than happy to help you do the same for Skaitook or even another area on Oologah. Rogers cove and goose island comes to mind.

i would like to say thanks to all you guys that put in the hard work and especially reaper for taking this responsibility on his shoulders and doing one hell of a job it looks like to me. i believe that its is the corps duty to protect the fishery. what happened at talala was reaper had a great idea to replenish the structure in the creek that he knew needed it and a great group of guys got together put up there time and supplies to make it happen. i guess the corp day hasnt made to talala here recently. i didnt attend bc i had to work but if i did go and work i would be sorely DISAPPOINTED to know they were posted for all to see. Dont get me wrong i appreciate the corp and what they do with the brush pile day and i plan on attending to help out this year. i just think these guys should be praised for what they did in this heat not questioned about it. Just my two cents

Thanks for the offer. I just sold my pontoon and gave up my slip at Redbud. Hope to have another boat within a week or two. The reason I sold pontoon was it's speed, 19 mph made it hard to explore other parts of the lake. I used to fish Talala Creek a lot years ago and will do so again when I get another boat. Never have liked Skiatook. too many lake lice.
