    Default Verdigris River

Anyone do any catching on the Verdigris? Bird Creek, Commodore, BlueGill Point?

Just wondering how it is. All I have ever managed were small ones, course I'm not that good either. Course it did rain a touch there.

I used to fish the Bluff Landing area a lot when I lived in BA. I got into a few slabs there before but it was 30 yrs ago. Billy Creek was known for nice Crappie. I can't recall anyone catching anything other than dinks anywhere else.

I put in at afton and run up river and catch some nice ones back in the second ox bow to the left past the bridge. I was fishing down there about every weekend the last month and doing pretty good catching some really nice fish there in there just gotta hit the wood till you find them

Sure wish I could figure out how to catch decent fish on the river. I have fished all of the creeks around Afton landing several times and always manage to catch a ton of fish....just all dinks. I've never managed to catch a keeper out of there. I normally doodlesock all of the thickest brush I can find as well as any stumps...any suggestions on what else to try to catch bigger fish?

I agree with hitting all the wood back in the oxbows until you find the fish. It's a lot of work but can be worth the effort.
