Thread: 41 Cut off Lake in SE OKlahoma

Anyone ever fish there? I saw a couple guys had about 20-25 great sized crappie they say caught out of there. Is it legal to fish there? There any boat launches?

It is south of Idabel. It's an old oxbow off the red river.

I use to fish an oxbow lake south of Idabel called Rice lake when I was a teenager. Never heard of 41 cut off lake. I lived in Broken Bow and usually fished BB lake, so there might be a few oxbows I don't know about. I remember fishin in a flat bottom boat on Rice lake and catching what we thought was gonna be a huge bass, turned out to be a 12 pound grennel. Not sure about the spelling but that's what we called them. Looks like a snake in the face with teeth and it was a long bodied fish. Seems like I remember lilly pads everywhere too.

i grew up around talihina and thought i knew all the fishing holes down there. but i just learned a new one.might have to check this one out.

I had a college buddy from Idabel. We fished Rice Lake too. It was a neat place. It where Red Slough WMA is today, I am pretty sure. We fished a big cutoff of the Red that had a lot of crappie in it. We also bow fished it at night. It had some BIG alligator gar. Don't remember how to get to it or anything, as that was 27 or 28 years ago now.

Yup... Don't know if I am over it yet, but I can certainly see down the other side.
