Hey cricket, that sounds like it is near us at Ft. Cobb Lake. Like to run out and see it when this cold wind stops.

I spent a month in Cement one night. I should know about it. If it really has 1# redear, it is on my list.

Does it really have keeper size red ear in it Ranger?

Smoky it did when I was a young feller..use to take a fly rod and a popper and wear em out..them lil buggers can cut up some water and bend a pole.
But Smoky I hadn't fished it in many moons, since my Grandparents passed most of the family have kinda melted away from there. There isn't much to do for work around there unless you have some wells to pump or you can work on compressors at a natural gas yard. But I will try and find out for you from a cousin that still lives in the area.

    Thanx Ranger.

I grew up in Illinois. There are a lot of big bluegill and other panfish that we know as "perch" around here. A pound plus bluegill was not unusual there. they are hard fighting fish and they eat every bit as well as crappie.

I have heard many stories about the large bream (3# plus) that they catch in south Ark/north LA., and I keepo saying i will hire a guide someday and go check it out, but I never have.

Has anyone ever gotten into the bream spawn in north LA/ South Ark?

I took two 9+ inch BG and a large redear last Friday on a Crappie jig when fishing a farm pond with a friend . It was cold and windy but we had a good day. I was fishing for Crappie, of course, and quit when I had all I wanted to clean. 14x 13-14.5" blacks. He was fishing for Bass and doing well on topwaters so I joined him. Between us we caught 19x 3-6lb Bass on topwaters and I lost the largest of the day. I had braid on with a snap and the big one straightened out the snap when he got in the weeds. She was about 8-9 lbs. Never had a snap straightened out before. Great day in the kayak.

That would be fun, but I was thinking more like 10" and up like they have in north Louisianna.

Why George? What did you have in mind?

I know of a pond that is loaded with 8.5 to 10" BG & RE. I have access to it along with a boat if you hit OKC and gave me ample warning. We could jerk some jaws.
