Default Anyone fish the Verdigris river?

Was just wondering if anyone fishes the verdigris river it self for crappie. I used to fish the creeks and fingers for bass but have never tried for crappie. I might give it a go tomorrow and see what its like. Ill post any pics and report on how I do.

I frequently fish the Verdigris river for crappie. It can be a gold mine! Some of the biggest crappie I have ever caught have come from the V river. Not a bad place to crappie fish, and it doesn't get hit as hard as the creeks. Good luck to you... Tony

I've not fished the Verdigis river part of the navigation system, but the oxbows off the main channel looks like a good place to start. Water temps in those areas would probably be warmer. Good luck.

Best trip I've ever had was launching at Bluff Landing, going up Adams creek during the spawn. Took home over 20 fish with average weight of 2+ lbs. Missed twice that many in the brush. That was many moons ago and I mean MANY. But, there are huge Crappie to be had if you can catch them at the right time. The rest of the year is a boondoggle trying to catch anything big enough to keep. Dink city for sure for the most part.

Don't understand why you go to the river and catch so many dinks. I've caught huge fish there but dinks will drive you crazy when using minnows!

George is right, Billy Creek has produced more for years and years. To answer your question, yes, Adams Creek is a little over a mile from the ramp, upstream.
