Thread: good camping spot - Eufaula

Back in April, we stayed at Crowder Point. Loved it. They have some sites on the East side (near the Minnow hut) where you can overlook the water.

Not sure what the fees are though. But it's quiet and secure.

I'm kinda partial to Arrowhead State Park since I'm so close to that facility. It has new showers and all the hook-ups. Plenty of places on the shoreline to park the boat and most of the camping areas are shaded.

Just a mile or so down the road from Camp Harbin.

I tried to find Arrowhead's camp site online, but couldn't find anything that showed the camp sites. I know the cabins are on a bluff. So the camp sites are close to where I could park the boat and leave it in the water? I'll try again to find a map of the site.

N-24, 25, 23 @Hwy 9 Landing. On protected water, close to ramp and good crappie and sand bass fishin. Practically in The Lip Rippers play ground, they might even give you some coordinates.
Oakridge isn't bad but on the highway so is noisy. You rent cabins near there, right?

peke...oakridge seems pretty quiet and has some good sand bass areas on the north side of 9a along with the 69 bridge being right around the corner...but i have not paid much attention to the hookups...you can tie your boat up right there and it will be out of the south wind that is supposed to be up saturday....and if you don't like to camp...all american cabins are right there as well...but i am not sure if there is a trail to the water if you left your boat in overnight.

Patti, I'm pretty sure that Arrowhead State Park doesn't have a website except through the State of Oklahoma Parks website.

The beautiful lodge with all the cabins is no longer operated by the State Park of Oklahoma, it is run by a bunch of space cadets for drug rehabilitation under the name of Narcanon. Narcanon is an entitiy of Ron L. Hubbard's Church of Scientology.

Members of that wacked out cult are: Tom Cruise, Kirsty Alley, John Travolta........ and many more nuts, need I go on?

So, disregard anything about the big lodge that used to be a wonderful place to stay and still would be had the State of Oklahoma been able to manage that lodge better than a group burnt outs. Most of the workers at that facility are ex-patients that stayed on to join in on the brainwashing they received as patients. Its a big joke around here.

But the park is still run by Oklahoma and they have made progress in keeping it in good shape and like I said earlier, they have built new shower/restroom facilities. Grass is kept mowed and the trash is picked up religiously. They still have a way to go to turn it into a top-notch park, but they're doing the best they can with the budget presented to them by the state.

Plenty of accessible shoreline for tying up boats, many convenient camping sites within a short walking distance to the shoreline and your boat.

But, there are other parks just as nice and some that have better crappie fishing near the park. The only good crappie fishing spot I know of by Arrowhead State Park is about a mile across the channel from the big lodge. There is a stand of trees in the water along the east shore and usually I catch crappie there.

Or, Blocker bridge is about two miles south of the lodge and this is one of the hot spots Todd Huckleby uses. He fishes along the rip-rap on the southeast side of the bridge.

Asking for which area is the best on a lake large as Lake Eufaula will bring a dozen answers and I'm not sure anyone can give you the best spot. But I hope you find a location that meets your criteria and you catch lotsa fish.
