    Default Summer Time Experiment

I thought I would share this with those of you who have family who would rather swim, while you would rather fish. Last year, the twins and I had anchored over a really good brush pile in about 19fow. We had been catching fish, but it had slowed down, and the sun had heated up. The girls wanted to swim, and I told them as long as they kept their lifejackets on, to hop in on the side of the boat not over the brush.
    I continued to fish.
The bite really picked up for me and the only thing I could come up with was that the splashing and noise they created, spooked the all the Crappie in the area deep into the brush concentrating them. I was catching fish as fast as I could drop a line. It was a win/win for the girls and me.
So, the next time you're with family, and some of them want to swim, let them have at it on the other side of the boat from where you're fishing. You just might be surprised! I'd be interested in hearing if it works for others.

I read about an old man that when the bite would slow down he would grab a handful of small rocks (gravel) and throw it in the water and it would start them to feeding. So you never know

My dad did this for years. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not, but he always had a coffee can of pea gravel in the boat. He also sprayed baitfish fish attractant over the top of the water.

As a youngster my family fished Eagle lake at Vicksburg....early one morning it looked like rain so we stayed on the bank and fished off a pier....back then most folks had a 5 to 10 HP motor.... every time a boat would run past the pier the bream would turn on like crazy...

CR, that is a new way to fish...think I will throw our 15 year old grandson over board and try your method. He outfishes us anyway!

I was fishing last fall with a Striper guide on lake Texoma who used a trolling motor mounted on his outboard to create a disturbance on the waters surface to attract Stripers. He said it's suppose to imitate surface feeding fish. So who knows maybe that trick would work for Crappie also.

Buddy and I were doing a night stalk on Stockon Lake in Mo. this past friday and I was complaining about the boat traffic in the area. My buddy noticed every time a boat went by we got bit. Later that night when the bite slowed down I was looking for boat hoping it would come by our way. Ended the night with 22 10"+ fish.
    Hey, tell me a story!

I hav 2 dogs that fish w/ me all the time and i was swearing the fish were biting the fleas as the dogs swam thru because it made the fish bite. One nit the neighbor was fishing next to me and I told him that i would apoligize for the dogs swimming around but the fish seemed to bite more- he's a believer now. Good dogs!
