    Default Broken Bow lake??

Is anyone familiar with this lake? I am going on a family outing in July and am expected to take them fishing and have never been there. Is there any crappie in that lake? If not what should I expect to fish for and where? Thank you for any assistance you can give me as my time there will be limited to a few days.

Take a bucket full of live crawdads and hit the points for spotted bass and have a ball.

Yeah and be sure to clean and eat the spotted bass. I know this sounds a little unorthodox but the spotted bass are becoming a nuisance to the largemouths growth due to their competing of food. Their is no limit to size and numbers of spots you can keep so load up and they are good eating, they fight like heck too. I would recommend you visit the wildlife departments website to see the difference between a spotted bass and a largemouth.

To confirm, there is NO size limit and NO possession limit on spotted bass in Broken Bow or any other lake in Okla. There IS the regular size and possesion limit on spots in certain streams in Okla. Ckeck ODWC regs on that. Have a ball and keep all your Kentuckies:D

You can catch crappie in the summer on Broken Bow. I haven't fished it in about 7 yrs in summer, but the last time I went three of us caught just a little over 100 in 4 hrs fishing. We had to use minnows fishing about 10-12' just above the therma cline. We caught them in Bee Creek and Bull Creek. They are not every where, but when you do locate them you better stay and fish it out. We went around July 17th and air temp was over 100 deg. Fished from 6 am to 10 am. After that time it was pretty much over. Or you can go out at night and fish just north of Otter Creek in the river channel tied up to standing timbe. Better if you go bait it out a day or two before you fish it. Use any dry dog food in a potato sack.

Broken Bow is 2nd. only to Eufaula for numbers of crappie, but I would lobby for it on big crappie #1. Some of the biggest blacks I ever caught in my life came from that lake.
