That water comes from Keystone at Zink Lake. The dam is on 31st and Riverside. I've eaten game fish out of there but nothing else. I typically fish it when the water is running. There are all kinds of rumors going around about the pollution levels. I spoke to a biologist that works the area and he confirmed that it's ok to eat the fish.

Lynn Lane Reservoir
FlyGuy,
I noticed a few trucks out at Lynn Lane Reservoir this week. I talked to a guy who said they've been catching crappie for about a month now and he mentioned he thinks it's about over. That's not consistent with what I saw last year but who knows. Either way they are catching a few there and it might be worth giving it a shot. Looks like he was throwing Garland jigs. Most the people I saw catching fish last year were throwing minnows.
If you decide to go, let us know how you do!

Thanks bassman, I'll try to get out there this weekend.

Well I made it out to Lynn Lane yesterday afternoon. First I tried throwing bobby garlands near the spillway and then the boat ramp that is near there. A few sandies and no slabs. The water still feels a little cold to me.

Regarding the Zink Dam: Do you catch them mainly when the water is flowing pretty hard? I know it can sometimes be tough to fish that area when the water is full blast unless you have a big huge weight on and your fishing for cats.

Crappie tonight
Flyguy,
I fished Lynn Lane Reservoir tonight from 8:15 - 9:00 and managed 6 crappie (3 keepers). I started catching a few small ones on black/pink beavertails but switched to an electric chicken bobby garland and managed the 3 keepers in about 10 minutes. Sure wish I would have shown up sooner throwing the right color. As soon as it got really dark around 8:40'ish they completely shut off. I changed to a small rattle trap to try something with some noise and lost something big on the second cast. Broke the lure off on the 3rd cast and went home. I fished the east side of the lake.

Good to hear you had some luck bassman! My brother and I got to do some fishing on a lake near Kiefer tonight and were able to catch some nice bass on plastics and then on the fly. I may try to see if I can catch some Lynn Lane crappie tomorrow evening.

Lynn Lane Reservoir
Fished Lynn Lane reservoir again tonight from 8:15 until 9:15. Caught 11 fish, including 9 crappie and 2 bass. None of the crappie were keepers however. My last fish of the day was a 4 pound bass caught on my little crappie jig. Really pretty fish that had a huge mouth like a 6 pounder, however she was thinned out from spawning. Still healthy though and still fun to catch!

Wow, fun catch on crappie gear!

I haven't fished the ol reservoir in 10 years or so. The sandies used to only hit when the water was running out of the spillway on the south end. I never caught any large crappie there. Caught a lot of catfish though.
