Yeah I think the warmest spot was like 44.8 but I always forget to look at it other than once or twice. When we put in I think it was right under 43 and He said when we were putting the boat up it was 41 I think. The only other lake I fish a lot is Bell cow lake in chandler and once or twice a year on Texoma but I have never taken the boat down to Texoma. Good luck on your projects. That spider rig will be handy I bet. I need to make a few more rod holders for mine that hold the rods at less of a angle. The ones I made are good for catfishing but not so much for crappie.

I think you guys around the dam are fishing too deep. The keepers are staging already. I was out there yesterday and 70% of the fish we caught were keepers. We cleaned 46. 3 were 13", 2 were 9", and all the rest were 10-12". Nice healthy fat slabs. They were all 5-10 ft deep in 10-20 fow. We fished shallower than 5 and deeper than 10, but only caught fish between 5 and 10. BTW, the girls had big bellies and red spouts!

No, I said the guys fishing along the dam are too deep. That's why they're catching so many dinks. When I said "I was out there" I meant at t-bird, not the dam. Sorry I didn't specify. I was fishing staging areas. Mostly on the Little River arm of the lake. I spent about an hour up the river, but didn't get a bite. I'm thinking about trying the staging areas around Clear Bay/Hog Creek next week.

Wherever you are, just look for defining characteristics in 10-20 fow. Creek channels are the best, but ledges, stump patches, brush piles, etc will work if they're in the right depth and near spawning areas. And keep trying the spawning areas as well, in another week or two they could be on the banks! I trust you'll let me know if you find 'em spawning before I do?

Will do. Although last year I didn't ever catch them on the banks, I was too busy catching them in staging areas prespawn (now), during spawn, and postspawn. With the way it works, either the males or the females or both are in the staging areas at any given time all throughout the Spring. Only one of the two will ever be on the beds at a time. Still, it's fun to get them on the end of a 12ft rod in 3 fow!
