    Default Batteries?

It's time for a new cranking battery and because the trollers are more than six years old I'll replace them too. Anybody know of any bargains going on? I'm not picky about the brand but want to buy from a retailer that's easy to do business with and that accepts exchanges so I don't have to bother with the cores. What about the Interstate Battery dealers in OKC or Norman, anybody used them?

Not from OKC but you can't go wrong with the Interstate Battery. I have had a set in my Ranger since 09 and they are a hard working battery. Never had an issue with any of them. I fish 4 to 5 days a week and always use the trolling motor and alot in rough water conditions. Never have I ran out of battery. Interstae has a new heavier deep cycle battery now thats all black in color with thicker and heavier plates they are using in the bigger boats with 36 volt systems. When I replace it will be with Interstate...just my $.02 worth.....Ranger

My last two have been Interstate and so will the next one. If you're going to spend a Franklin or better for a battery, Interstate is my choice.

I've been using the evermax from walmart. the trolling batteries are over 6 years old and still hold a good charge. they run around a franklin and you can still exchange after the parts stores have closed.

I have heard that in boat applications proper maintenance and charging are more important than manufacturer. Are the ones you are buying from walmart maintenance free, or accessible? Also, how do you charge them?

they d have caps to remove. I think I have only added water maybe a couple times since I bought them. I do keep battery tenders on them when not in use. I also pull all my batteries out of the boat during the winter since my boat has to stay outdoors. I do use a regular charger on them when I come home from a fishing trip. then hock up the tenders. I have had very good luck out of the walmart batteries so for.

Had a buddy call me a few weeks ago saying he was running out of battery in just a few hours of use and had batteries that were just over a year old. Asked him if he kept the onboard charger on them after they were charged and he stated he did. Told him to check the fluid level and add DISTILLED water if they needed it. All cells were low and he added tap water to them and charged. Well you all know what happened. The life of the batteries lasted about a week and they went south. He said he didn't have any distilled water so he added tap instead and said he couldn't see any level in any of the batteries before adding. He now has new batteries and bought a jug of distilled water....lol....lesson learned...Ranger

X2 Ranger. I keep several gallons of distilled water, for boat and golf cart batteries. When I get down to less than 2 gallons, I start to add water to my shopping list.

Yep, I try to make sure the charge and water level is maintained and always use distilled water. I too believe this is important to battery life. I've got several different battery brands ninteen batteries in total and cannot say that any are better than another. All the positive comments on Interstate brand do have my attention though. Have not had much time to go shopping so far but did see them at Northern Tool for a decent price. Academy has a real good price on a Exide Deep Cycle but not on the group code I use.

I have been using evermax like KD, keep them on the tender. Got 6 years out of the last pair! Just replaced them this winter.
