Now we are waiting on the attorney's opinion of the abstract. He has had it a week. Seems I am the only one in a hurry!

Jim, I tried to get the regular tv channels without cable, but all I received was 3-1 and 3-2. My tv has a digital tuner in it. I can't understand why I cannot get ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC with rabbit ears. I got all of them plus more in Claremore with rabbit ears. Do you have any suggestions? I really do not want cable....nothing gets done around the house with cable.

With rabbit ears, that's probably about all you're going to get Patti. My nextdoor neighbor came down dragging an expensive digital outdoor antenna and didn't do much better than rabbit ears. From what I understand about the digital signal, you either get it or you don't. No more snowy pictures where you attempt to tweak the reception to clear it up.

I'm really considering satellite reception again. Not sure what else to share with you young lady. Good luck.

    Peke,

We have a cabin in Longtown, behind Poppa J's. We have a 20 year old outdoor antenna on a 20' tall pole, and a 10 yr old analog TV, and a digital converter box. We get all of the Tulsa TV stations (2,6,8,11,19,23,41), channel 3.1 and 3.2, and somedays we even get channel 17 (I think it is out of Claremore). TV signals are mostly line of sight, and we have a clear shot across the lake, and I think you are about 5 miles S/SW of me.

I'm not sure, but I think you might have some large hills/small mountains just to the north of you. That will definitely will prohibit the rabbit ears. And it might interfere with an outdoor antenna as well. But you know how us country boys are.....we can figure out a way to make anything work. Maybe you can find a used outdoor antenna and some old oilfield pipe.

    Default antenna

    Crappiebob,

We have a 30-40 foot antenna, but there are so many wires coming from it and wrapped around it. We just need to start over. Can't find anyone who climbs them for a living! Claremore Radio Shack has someone, but that's a little far. I think Channel 17 is RSU in Claremore; you're right. You are right about being close to where we live too. We are across the cove from Arrowhead. I can see their boat ramp from my dock.

Shoot I tried to make an aluminum foil helmet for my husband so he can stand on the tower when I want to watch TV. Then the foil helmet would protect him when he fell. He didn't think it would be a good idea...I don't know why. Rofl

I hate that Poppa J's closed. They had the best chicken fried steak sandwiches. I just discovered them.

It has been sort of nice with no TV. Still unpacking.

One thing a person can do when installing an antenna is to make sure it is grounded really well. One trick I do as a Ham radio operator is dig a deep hole at the base of the antenna, drive a copper grounding rod into the center of the hole, then surround it with salt, then make sure it is attached with a metal strap to the bottom of the antenna pole. Occasionally pour water on top to make a really good ground.

It would even be better if a person could run a ground line down to the lake's shoreline and sink about 30 feet of bare wire into the water. This would give you the entire surface of the lake as a ground wave collector.

Or, just call the tv cable company over in Crowder and have them set you up. Good luck and please, continue to leave the tin foil on hubby's head. If he tries to pull it off, quickly disconnect your tv antenna, even if you have cable by then, and insist he put it back on.

Hey, have you guys moved in yet?

Oh my brain hurts. This electrical stuff is way over my head.

You know, maybe with the aluminum foil on his head, Joe needs that copper ground rod too. So cover his feet in salt and pour water over his head every once in a while. He might appreciate it more if it was beer though. I do not miss the TV at all, but I think he is having withdrawals. He just might do the foil hat thing.

We are moved in, but I cannot find anything. School is about to start, and I have boxes everywhere.

You probably recognize the dock in the picture from the other post, don't you? Very close to you.

Better get that boy his tv channels before he has convulsions. Us old toots are particular about our television. I know I can't stand to miss my favorite show: Sponge Bob Square Pants

Today's episode is a great one; ""SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs are locked in the freezer during the Krusty Krab's anniversary celebration."Hands ClappingThumbs UpHands ClappingThumbs Up

If you haven't seen this episode, you've missed a terrific show. Yep, you better get him his tv programming.

I am so deprived. I have never seen Mr. Bob in action. Or is it Mr. Pants?
