    Rigrunner-
:D I haven't given up, but my husband says it is now my boat and he wants nothing to do with it. He really never liked fishing anyway, and now that we have a boat he hates it even more! I think he just hates not knowing what he is doing! :D When at Bass Pro, if I ask a question, he disappears!

Boy, we have it backwards, don't we? Wife loves to fish and husband thinks he is a "fishing widower". He only goes fishing under duress. Knows I can't go by myself.

Only one more day to fish. Then husband has surgery and we'll be staying at home until he is back on his feet. (Ya'll are safe at the ramps for a while :D :D. )

    Happy fishing!

When you said to come in at an angle, do you mean like a 45 degree angle with the bow going past the trailer, then turning it at the last second? I am not sure I have the right picture in my mind.
You can feel the boat pulling to one side or another, don't fight it, work with it. If you notice that the back of the boat is going to the right when you're trying to go straight, then work with that. Approach a lil crooked so that the sideways movement tends to straighten you up, even though you are not turning the wheel.

This will mean that the back of the boat and the front of the boat are not in a straight line with the center of the trailer, but will be by the time you get there. You'll have to decide how far off straight you approach, but a 45 is too much.

This all varies a bit from boat to boat, so practice on your boat is what is going to tell you how much, how fast and when you straighten the wheel.

Its just like anything else. You have to do it a few times and let your brain work out how best you like to do it.

GL and I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Find you a young net man to take with ya. That'll get him back on the water quick!

Peke- I would suggest that you ask around and find a experienced boater that will go out with you in the boat and show you how to drive it, unload it and load it. Lets steepen the learning curve

Thanks, Rigrunner. The doctors seem to think they caught the C in very early stages. No chemo, just surgery.

Stink- You are so funny! What did CG ever do to you??? :D Glad you are in your house now. Living in it will help you feel that it is almost finished.

CG- You gonna take that from Stink?? We did have my brother teach us the first 4-5 times, but we just aren't perfect at it yet. We aren't really dangerous, just klutzy. The ducks swim faster than we go on the water. We are taking it really carefully. Just have problems with loading and docks and we are nervous about hitting rocks and stumps. We don't trust ourselves yet, I guess.

Lake Eufaula is safe this weekend....we are going to Oologah.

    Peke,

My biggest problem when learning to load the boat on the trailer, was going to slow. You do need to drive it on there. That will be different with different boats and of course wind conditions..Hang in there! Everybody IS, WAS, or WILL BE, where you are now. The other day I was by myself at Crowder and launched my panfisher, tied it up when and parked my trailer, came back to find it half full of water. Remember to put plug in dummy! Couple of guys came and helped me get it back on trailer. We got water out and re-launched. Guess what, 3 grown men forgot to put the plug in!

When you think most people watching you and laughing, most will be remembering their learning experiences. Remember, someone has to be responsible for the entertainment!!!!

Will remember your hubby in our prayers.

    Default plug

    Hat55,

Wow, there is one thing we haven't done yet! We have never forgotten the plug. (YET) Why does someone take the plug out anyway? Maybe we should be doing that after boating???

Hey, I love entertaining people! They can laugh all they want to. I just don't want to get in anyone's way because we are so slow. I usually find something to laugh about in any situation. (my own situation)

Well, we canceled our Oologah fishing trip for today. Maybe I can go to Eufaula tomorrow...
